This unprecedented influx highlights Dubai’s position as one of the fastest-growing global metropolises, driven by an expanding job market, foreign direct investment, and dynamic lifestyle offerings.
Beyond permanent residents, the city’s infrastructure supports an even larger daily footfall. Official figures show that during peak daytime business hours, Dubai’s total active population surges to 6.39 million. This additional load includes over 1.8 million commuters living in neighboring emirates who travel into Dubai for work, as well as tourists, business travelers, and short-term visitors. Managing such high daily movement requires dynamic public services and ultra-responsive city management systems.
To measure this rapid growth accurately, Dubai has phased out traditional periodic door-to-door surveys in favor of a next-generation real-time AI-powered census system. Approved by the government leadership, this digital model continuously aggregates live administrative data from key entities—including residency authorities (GDRFA), the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), DEWA, and the Dubai Health Authority.
