New Dynamic Pricing Structure to Accommodate Ramadan Observances
Dubai, UAE – January 21, 2025 – Salik, Dubai’s electronic toll gate system, has announced a dynamic toll gate pricing structure to take effect on Friday, January 31, 2025. This initiative is aimed at reducing congestion on Dubai’s busiest roads while accommodating the needs of motorists during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The new pricing model introduces variable toll fees based on the time of day, replacing the current flat rate of AED 4 per entry. In a move to further support residents during Ramadan, the toll fee schedule will be adjusted to account for the specific needs of those observing fasting traditions.
To facilitate ease of travel during key Ramadan periods, toll charges will be waived between 2:00 AM and 7:00 AM during the Holy Month. This exemption allows individuals to attend sunrise prayers and partake in Suhoor without incurring toll fees.
Additionally, during morning rush hours, drivers will be charged AED 4 instead of AED 6 between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM. However, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the peak traffic period, toll charges will remain AED 6 per entry, with Sundays offering a reduced rate of AED 4 during peak hours.
Under the general dynamic pricing model effective January 31, tolls will be waived between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM. Drivers will continue to experience variable pricing based on traffic flow to optimize road efficiency and ease congestion.
Salik’s decision underscores its commitment to improving the driving experience while remaining mindful of Dubai’s cultural and religious practices.
