Abu Dhabi, UAE – January 21, 2025 – The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has introduced a comprehensive Emergency Management Policy, mandating all early childhood education institutions to comply with strict safety and preparedness measures by the 2025–2026 academic year. The policy ensures standardized procedures for managing emergencies, prioritizing the safety and well-being of children while clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of staff, parents, regulators, and service providers during crises.
As part of the policy, institutions must implement regular staff training on incident management policies, conducted at least annually. These sessions will cover critical aspects such as incident identification, classification, documentation, and procedural protocols for various scenarios, including medical emergencies, evacuations, and lockdowns. Additionally, staff will be trained to provide first aid to children in accordance with ADEK’s employment and medication administration guidelines.
Institutions must report all incidents requiring external intervention, including theft, property damage, or service disruptions caused by urgent repairs, to parents and relevant authorities without delay. Non-compliance with incident reporting and other policy requirements will result in penalties ranging from fines to potential closure, depending on the severity of the violation. Violations include failure to promptly notify parents or authorities, submitting false or incomplete reports, and non-compliance with investigation outcomes or corrective actions within the stipulated timeframe.
With this policy, ADEK emphasizes the importance of proactive emergency preparedness to ensure the highest standards of safety for children across Abu Dhabi. Institutions are urged to act immediately to align with these requirements, as failure to comply will not be tolerated. For more information, institutions can contact ADEK through official channels.
