According to the Global Power City Index (GPCI), issued by the Institute for Urban Strategies at Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation, Dubai outperformed 47 cities globally, achieving an unprecedented 100% satisfaction score for city cleanliness under the environment pillar.
This remarkable achievement underscores the success of Dubai Municipality’s forward-thinking strategies, including the Dubai Integrated Waste Management Strategy 2041, which aims to reduce waste production by 18% and ensure the complete diversion of waste from landfills by 2041.
Dubai’s commitment to maintaining world-class cleanliness is evident through its 365-day citywide cleanliness system. With a fleet of 855 advanced vehicles, machinery, and equipment, supported by over 3,200 dedicated team members, Dubai Municipality consistently delivers exceptional results across the city’s urban, industrial, and rural landscapes.
Daily cleaning operations cover an extensive range of areas, including:
• 2,400 kilometers of main roads and highways
• 1,419 square kilometers of investment zones
• 33.4 kilometers of water canals and creeks
In addition, the municipality oversees hazardous and medical waste treatment, provides community e-services such as household furniture disposal, and handles the removal of abandoned vehicles and equipment.
