India Expands Passport and Visa Services Across the UAE With 16 New Centres
A major announcement has been made for the millions of Indians living in the United Arab Emirates, as the Government of India confirmed a large expansion of passport, visa, and consular services across the country. Starting July 2026, 16 new Indian service centres will begin operations throughout the UAE under the management of Alhind Group.
The decision is expected to benefit more than four million Indians living and working in the UAE, making it one of the largest Indian expatriate communities anywhere in the world. Officials said the move is aimed at improving customer service, reducing appointment delays, and making consular facilities more accessible across all emirates.
Currently, many Indian residents in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and other regions often face long waiting times for passport renewals, visa applications, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) services, attestation work, and other official documentation procedures. With the growing Indian population in the UAE, demand for these services has increased significantly over the past few years.
Under the new arrangement, Alhind Group will take over operations related to Indian consular and visa support services in the UAE. The company is expected to establish service centres in multiple locations to ensure easier access for Indian residents living far from major consulate offices.
Officials familiar with the project stated that the new centres are expected to introduce faster appointment systems, improved customer support, better digital processing, and shorter waiting periods. Authorities believe the modernization of services will help reduce overcrowding at existing centres, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi where demand remains extremely high.
Indian diplomats in the UAE described the move as part of a broader effort to strengthen support systems for overseas Indians. The UAE remains one of India’s most important international partners, both economically and strategically. Millions of Indian expatriates contribute heavily to the UAE’s economy through sectors such as construction, healthcare, hospitality, retail, transportation, finance, and technology.
The Indian community also sends billions of dollars in remittances back to India every year, making the UAE one of the largest sources of foreign remittances for the Indian economy.
Many Indian residents welcomed the announcement, saying that accessing consular services has sometimes been stressful because of limited appointments and heavy demand. Social media reactions showed strong support for the expansion, with many users hoping the new system will reduce paperwork complications and improve efficiency.
Business leaders and travel industry experts also praised the decision, noting that smoother visa and documentation services can positively impact trade, tourism, and labour mobility between India and the UAE.
The announcement comes during a period of rapidly strengthening relations between India and the UAE. Over the past decade, both countries have signed several agreements related to trade, investment, technology, energy cooperation, defence, and infrastructure development.
Experts say the expansion of Indian service centres reflects the growing importance of the Indian community within the UAE’s social and economic landscape. Indian schools, businesses, restaurants, cultural organizations, and professional communities continue to play a major role across Dubai and other emirates.
Officials have not yet released the full list of all 16 planned locations, but sources indicate that centres will likely be distributed strategically across major emirates to improve accessibility for residents throughout the country.
The new centres are also expected to include upgraded digital systems that could allow faster tracking of applications and smoother document verification processes. Authorities hope the improvements will reduce pressure on consulate staff and improve the overall user experience.
Meanwhile, experts believe the move demonstrates how governments are increasingly focusing on expatriate welfare and administrative modernization in countries with large migrant populations.
As preparations continue ahead of the July 2026 launch, many Indian residents across the UAE are hopeful that the expanded network will make passport and visa procedures quicker, simpler, and more convenient than before.
